Town Mayor, Cllr Chris Rice was delighted to welcome the Deputy Mayor of Broxtowe, Cllr Derek Burnett and Deputy Mayoress, Mrs Sonia Burnett, to a Concert given by the NSCB, (left), to celebrate the Town Council’s 30th Anniversary, IN St Helen’s Parish Church.

A number of Past Town Mayors and Councillors from both Stapleford and Broxtowe attended this event, together with former and present staff Members and of course the public who turned out for a night of wonderful music. (Pictured: The Civic Party together with representatives of the Band).

The programme was varied featuring: Music from the Shows, Symphonic Pops, Queen, Shostakovich, Bach and so much more.   The acoustics in St Helen’s are wonderful and Musical Director, Colum J O’Shea commented on how marvellously the sound ‘bounced’ around the Church.

A souvenir programme was available, featuring every Town Mayor since 1987. Profits from the evening will be donated to the Annexe Project at St Helen’s and the Revd, Cannon Peter Huxtable, thanked the Town Council for its support for this project.

All too soon it was time for the ‘Sabre Dance’ and the finale of the show.  However, we could not let Colum go without a souvenir of his visit to Stapleford.
